Down Under
If you were old enough to listen to the radio in the 1980s, you’ll remember the distinctive reggae-influenced opening of Men at Work’s only U.S. #1 hit “Down Under.”
Australia may be the only country where the song remains in regular rotation on top-rated radio stations. (Believe it or not, Men at Work played the song to close the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics.)
Now, if I can just find my Little River Band album…

Australia’s not the only place it’s in regular rotation – I heard Down under three times in one weekend at the Norwegian ski resort of Trysil a couple of weeks ago (and that’s not due to a huge aussie presence – the resort is almost entirely visited by Norwegians). Very odd hearing that song when the outside temperature is -18!
Any renditions of “Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog”? Also was that the distinguished Davis McPherson populating a few pictures?
Great video!
Excellent YouTube slide show … the song brought me back a few years. Certainly pleasant to see people with sunglasses and beach sand – here in Ottawa we are waist deep in snow and Day 52 of a Transit Strike that has paralyzed the city. Have a great time in the second half of your trip … SAVOUR each day.

Great slide show!!!!! I think I would go for ACDC over the Littler River Band
I just heard Down Under on Charlie FM Portland. Between that and Springsteen playing the Superbowl the other day, I have been thinking of you often. Wish we were there with you.
